Roxanne Tritt and Bryan Cunningham will appear as Guest Artists for the 2006 production of the Nutcracker. Ms. Tritt will dance the role of the "doll" in Act I and the "Chinese Soloist" in Act II. Mr. Cunningham will dance the role of The Cavalier.

Alumni Dancer Beth Slawinski Childers is expecting her first child - Congratulations! Beth and her husband Jason reside in North Carolina.
Company Alumni Emily Tharp, Kala Hall and James Cunningham are currently enjoying their first quarter at University of Cincinnati ;all three are majoring in dance. Mr. Cunningham has been cast in a performance piece - more details to come. Alumni Dancer Rebecca Hill was married in August! Congratualtions Rebecca!

Jason Tanner

MOVB alumni Jason Tanner spent the summer on full scholarship to the Joffrey Ballet Summer Program in New York City. His teachers included Winthrop Corey and Francesca Corkle. He was featured as Franz in "Excerpts from Copellia" in the End of Workshop performances set by Dorothy Lister.

Jason is a senior this year at University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Dance and plans to pursue a dance career upon graduation.

Autumn Mentink

MOVB Academy student Autumn Mentink has received a scholarship in talent and academics to Ohio Northern University. Ms. Mentink graduates this spring from Parkersburg South High School and will attend WVU this fall. Ms. Mentink studied Tap and Jazz in the academy for over ten years and will study writing and theater while at ONU.

Katheryn Contessa 

MOVB Alumni Katheryn (Anderson) Contessa has graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a BFA in Dance. She and her husband, Joe, recently moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan. Katie will be the new Director of Studio Programs and will manage to pre-professional ballet program at Peter Sparling Dance Gallery and Foundation.

She recently returned from California, where she did a residency program at Cal Arts with her dance partner Scott Putnam. They will return to California this fall to perform in Palm Springs.

Aurora Held, Olivia Miller and Clare Cannizzaro

MOVB Company member Aurora Held, Trainee member Olivia Miller and her mom Theresa, and MOVB Alumni Clare (Hughes) Cannizzaro spent their summer performing with West Virginia Public Theatre in Morgantown, WV. Productions included "Oklahoma," "The King & I," "Our Town," "Joseph & the Technicolor Dreamcoat," and "42nd Street."

Aurora was a summer intern and performed in the ensemble work of all six productions. Olivia and her mother appeared in "Our Town," and Clare performed in all six shows in ensemble while her husband, Bart Cannizzaro, who is an accomplished tap dancer and who recently conducted several tap workshops in the MOVB Academy, was Stage Manager on several shows.

The dancers gained valuable experience towards their continuing careers in dance and theater. Clare and Bart are currently on tour with another musical production. Aurora and Olivia have returned to the Company to rehearse and prepare for their upcoming roles in the annual production of the "Nutcracker."
